Srinivasaragavan Bhattar, also known to many as Ragavan Bhattar or Pandit Ragavanji, was born into the family of Vaikanasa Archaka at Nathankoil, Kumbakonam (the Town of Temples) in India. As per Hindu culture, Vaikanasa Archakas are instilled with the rights to serve the Lord in temples from birth.

From a young age, Raghavan Bhattar studied Hindu scriptures and learnt rituals from his Guru Sirkazhi Sri Seshathri Battachar, a great scholar of Vaikanasa Aakamam. By the grace of God, Raghavan Bhattar’s father and forefathers before him have practiced Vedic Astrology, Palmistry, and Vastu Sasthra. Raghavan Bhattar was trained in the skills of astrology initially by his grandfather Sri Padhmanaba Battachar, and later by his father, Sri P.Raman (Hanumath Ubasakar), a renowned astrologer in India, Singapore, Malaysia, London, and Germany.

Raghavan Bhattar served as a priest at Srinivasa Perumal temple in India in his early years. For the past 17 years, he has continued the sacred service to Lord Narayana at the Sri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs, Victoria. During this time, he has performed weddings, house warmings, Ganapathi homams, Sudharsana homams, and all other Hindu rituals.
